You’re On My Mind Again…..

Well it has been a hell of a week for me. 5 days of posts but I made it. I know I said a post every day of this week but I should clarify that I meant weekdays as I will be making lots of other fun stuff at the weekend.  Not to mention writing a post for the next Pootles blog hop.

This final card uses the sentiment You’re On My Mind. I think this is a rather useful stamp as it can be used in a variety of situations with or without the combings sentiment But Not In A Creepy Way to show your thinking of someone in a difficult time or used on a Valentine’s day card or anniversary card.

I think with a design of the card above you could even use it as a birthday card for a guy, just write or stamp the inside with happy birthday and your good to go. The Card base is Mossy Meadow and the blue is Lost Lagoon. I’m totally in love with the Lost Lagoon colour at the moment but I will try not to over saturate my blog post with it too much as Stampin up has such a fantastic colour range and I should try more of the other colours and try to use the pinks (scrunches up face). I’m not totally against pink I like the bright Melon Mambo and Watermelon Wonder it’s just I have no idea what to do with Blushing Bride or Pink Pirouette.

If anyone has any suggestions of pink card I could try let me know in the comments below.

Thanks for stopping by, don’t forget to come back next week for the blog hop.

High Five

So I had planned to have this and another two posts ready by Sunday evening and then just schedule everything but Sunday evening came and went and here I am typing the rest on a rather dreary Tuesday Morning.

Todays project is a card (I decided to alternate so tomorrow is 3d). Still sticking with that awesome stamp set That thing You Did.

For this card I tried out a technique I haven’t used before, no idea what it is called so if you know leave a comment below. Anyway, take the stamp of your choice, mine is High Five and pick 3 inks. Then ink the stamp in the lightest colour and then put a bit of the other 2 colours on either side of the stamp then stamp it down on your card stock. I wibbled a little when doing this so the H and the E became a little blotchy but I do like how the Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey blended together to make that nice blue/green colour on the left. To finish the center piece off I used another stamp from that set that looks like a dashed line and stamped it above in Tangelo Twist and below in Lost Lagoon. As the card base was also Lost Lagoon I stamped the bottom edge of the card using the same dashed line stamp. I also added a couple of stars which wasn’t part of the original design but i really liked the way it looked and I love stars.

I did a little something to the inside of this card.

A little bit of washy tap and a sentiment. The sentiment again is from That Thing You Did, I just love the versatility of this set and the variety of fonts it uses. As for the washi tape that’s from the 2014-2016 in colours washi tape set. I am really starting to like washi tape. I first I was a little unsure of how to use it but its so useful and fun and adds that little bit extra to a card if your not into ribbons and buttons this is definitely the way to go.

Well that’s it for today, come back tomorrow for my next project using this stamp set.

Sunday Sketch

Morning everyone.

Having a nice weekend so far?

Mine has been nice and relaxing but after this blogpost have to go do the dreaded weekly shop (I would do one for two weeks but my freezer isn’t big enough).

Here is this weeks sketch.

FMS194

I like this sketch. I felt a lot more inspired when I looked at this one compared to last week so maybe I have got my mojo back.

So for this weeks card I wanted to do more with stamping than bits of paper and for that I turned to one of my favorite stamps I Think You’re Great. I love the large patterned stamps in here and they make great backgrounds to layer stuff on top of. I also really wanted to use Marina Mist for this card. I always end up using brights so I wanted to use something in the subtles range.

Tada!

I picked Crumb Cake to be the completing colour and it really makes Marina Mist stand out. I actually really like Crumb Cake and need to use it more often. Now I would have use some Marina Mist or Crumb Cake for the twine at the bottom of the card but I don’t have any so I settled for Very Vanilla instead and I think it compliments the two colours nicely. It was a big challenge for me to stay away from brights but I think I managed it and hopefully I will try to incorporate these colours more in future projects.

Thanks for stopping by, come back again soon.

Can I Make It #2

Its Friday…. Now normally I am super exited about the end of the week but this Friday marks the last day for one of my work colleagues. She is going on a grand adventure to various countries in her super cool van. She will be doing some work while she is away but who knows if she will ever come back to the office but I can blame her after all the amazing stuff she is going to see and do why would any one want to go back to working in a stuffy office. So this weeks project is the gift box I made for her present.

The video and demonstrator that I am highlighting this week is Sam from Sam’s Sentiments you can check out her blog here. I came a cross Sam’s video only yesterday. It came up on my suggested videos list and I clicked it simple as that but I am glad I did. Her video was great quality and she presented very easy to understand instructions/demonstration. Another cool thing is that she used the envelope punch bard to make the first part of the little box. I do love a good envelop punch board project any way to see the video click here.

So here is my box.

It turned out really well! For a change I didn’t score in the wrong place yey! It helped that Sam was really clear and concise with her instructions. Just like Sams box I used Mint Macaroon for the base and a piece of Cherry on Top for the outside of the box. I really liked the little ice lolly lip glosses in her video I went out and bought some my self! they are so adorable and reasonably priced that I may get more in the future as party favors or little gifts for my nices.

Thanks for stopping by have a fab Friday.

Freshly Made Father

Its Sunday, that means its time for this weeks Freshly Made Sketches challenge!

So here it is.

The oval in the middle kind of threw me off at first but after looking at other poles designs I noticed some had done away with it and put a different shape altogether so knowing that it made things a little easier. Now father’s day is next sunday so I decided to dedicate this sketch to a father’s day card.

Now I only have one stamp set dedicated to men and that is Guy Greeting its a really versatile stamp set as it has a greeting for every occasion and some cool stamps in the for of an old car, a set of tools, soom hats and some greetings to go with it. Now for my card I chose the car and the greeting to a classic. Take a look below.

This design maybe a little too far from the original design but that’s fine. I tend to use freshly made sketches more for inspiration than to actually win the challenge. The base of the card is chocolate chip and I have used the stripes embossing folder on it, then layered a piece of basic black and whisper white over the top. The father stamp is also from Guy Greetings and it was stamped in chocolate chip ink. I love how detailed that clasic car looks and it’s from a stamp! Its crazy how much detail they can put into these pieces of rubber.

Thanks for stopping by, come back again soon.

Freshly Made Tree

These days pass in such quick succession it’s frightening but that’s also what makes those little moments special.

Finally used my tree builder punch!

Now I have had this punch and the matching stamp set sprinkles of Life since the pre-order began in may but I just haven’t had chance to use it and I was trying to come up with a card design that wasn’t CASED from somewhere. Theres nothing wrong with caseing in fact I do a lot of it but I really like this stamp set and wanted to make something that I came up with myself the first time I used it. I know I am using a Freshly Made Sketches for this card even though I say I want it to be original but they layout actually helps with that as they are different each week and the Sprinkles of life and punch have only been out a week so the competition would have been flooded with cards that use them.

So without further ado here is this weeks sketch.

And here is mine.

I found this weeks sketch rather challenging to be honest and struggled to come up with some that I 100% love. I think the reason I was finding it difficult was because of the circle as at the moment the largest circle I have is 2″ (really need to get those circle dies for my big shot). the whole idea behind the card is that it was meant to represent a hot summers day (don’t seem to get a lot of them here in the uk). I love the centerpiece I just think it’s a little small on this size card or I should of set it with a layer of white behind. I do love the way the sky and grass turned out, this was made using a piece of whisper white and two of the washi tapes from the Cherry on Top set.

Next time I think I will make a whole orchard of trees of a muffin or even an ice cream ooh I just love the versatility of the Sprinkles of Life stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by, come back again soon.

Freshly Made Hello

Its Sunday that means its time for this weeks Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.

By the time anyone reads this I will be on my way to Sunderland to play baseball. Yes I said baseball and it’s not glorified rounders as it has a lot more rules than that and takes a lot of coordination to catch a very fast moving ball, also the balls hurt when you get hit by them. All that a aside it is a fantastic sport just like any other so wish me luck on a win (seriously we need it haha).

So here is this weeks sketch.

Nice and simple.

And here is mine.

I am not sure if that panel on the left is too much of a deviation from the original layout but I really wanted to use up some of my Moonlight DSP as it retires on Tuesday. The base card is Lost Lagoon and so is the large stamped flower the other flowers are Hello Honey. The part that actually took me the longest was trying to decide what flower shapes I wanted, lots of little ones, one big one or a different shape altogether. I also really wanted to get one last use out of my Hello There stamp set as that too retires on Tuesday ( I will still use it just on projects outside of my blog).

Thanks for stopping by, come back again soon.

Box of Cards

Happy Friday Everyone.

This weeks 3d project is more of a decorate a box than make a box but it was still fun nonetheless.

The boxes themselves are from amazon and you can by a pack of 2 here. To decorate the outside of the box I used some of the Cherry On Top Washi Tape. I would love to have stamped Cards on the top of the box using the new in colors but I don’t have an alphabet stamp set large enough to look good on top of the box but I will get one eventually and when I do I will stamp it and show you all.

For the inside of the box I created some dividers using the last of my Costal Cabana cardstock and the Tabs framelit dies and then penned on what each section was for. If you can’t tell from the picture I have birthdays, thank you, congratulations, wedding, sympathy and parents/occasions.

Thanks for stopping by, come back again soon.

Freshly Made Lucky

Freshly Made Sketch post is back!

If you haven’t seen it already here is this weeks sketch.

And here is mine.

I just love bright cards and this week my card is showcasing some of the new products that will be available in the new catalog that comes out on the 2nd of June.

So the base is Tip Top Taupe cardstock which is one of the new in colors and the DSP I have used is called Cherry On Top and features some of the new in colours in the paper as well as some from other colour collections but it’s absolutely wonderful and is one of my favourites from the new catalog.

The butterflies are made using the butterfly basics framelits but the paper I used for the bigger butterfly is also from a new product which is envelope paper and comes in all of the new in colours and the little butterfly is cut from Watermelon Wonder cardstock.

As for the sentiment it is stamped in Cucumber Crush (new in colour) and it is from this years RMHC stamp set and it is absolutely adorable and is called Sprinkles Of Life and you can make cupcakes and ice creams and clouds and baskets of flowers and trees it such a versatile stamp set and I think it will be hugely popular when everyone sees it.

Thanks for stopping by, come back again soon.

Envelope Punch Board Box

Happy Friday!

Back on schedule finally and here is the box I was going to showcase last week.

As the title suggest this box was made using the envelope punch board and here is how to make it.

To start pick a cardstock colour you like and trim it down to 8″ x 8″ then line the card up to 2 1/4 and make the first punch then score. The next is a little tricky as the measurement is longer than the punch board provides so I suggest using a ruler to help. Slide the card along till it is at 5 3/4 (that’s the bit you need the ruler for) punch then score and then repeat on each side. Use the opposite side of the punch board to round the corners. Then burnish each score line choose which sides you want for the tabs ( it doesn’t really matter which just as long as you do the opposite side in the same fashion) cut them then stick them to the inside of the other parts of the box.

Next cut some dsp 4 pieces of dsp to the size of the box faces and stick them on. On top of the box punch a hole on each flap roughly in the same place and then thread through some ribbon or twine and tie it off. You could just leave it there but I decided to add a little extra in the for or a tag that’s not a tag. You can use any shape or stamp for this part but I used the “For you” sentiment from the Hello There hostess stamp set and mounted it on a scallop circle and threaded this through one of the ends of my ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by, come back again.
