Bear Necessities?

bog hop-001

Hello and welcome to a Pootle’s blog hop for the autumn/winter 2015 catalogue. There are some absolutely gorgeous stuff in this year’s fall catalogue, plenty to suit everybody’s tastes. I had to restrain myself from buying all of it! Plenty of bundles this time round too, like stamp sets with framelits and a really nice stamp set that comes bundled with a punch. There is also some really beautiful designer series paper too.

The things I am showcasing in my project are based around stuff that can be found on page 42 and 43 which are ‘Thankful Forest Friends’ and ‘Into The Woods Designer Series Paper’. There is also a coordinating cardstock pack for the ‘Into The Woods’ paper that is on the same page. The cardstock pack contains Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry and Soft Suede.

I love simple quick cards and that’s what I have for you today, three small simple cards that use a little bit of DSP, some stamping and a little bit of baker’s twine.

The cards I have made are from one sheet of A4 Rich Razzleberry and measure 3 1/2″ x 7″. This one has a square of Old Olive cut to 3″ x 3″. Now my favourite part of the card has to be the bear, I think it’s adorable and I really wanted it to look like it was holding that ‘for’. The Thankful For You is all from Thankful Forest Friends and I have just used the brights stampin write markers to colour each word then stamp.

This card I tried to layer different bits of DSP at jaunty angles to give it some interest, I’m not sure how well it worked but I do like the way the lettering turned out. For that I used my brights markers again colouring half the word in Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. Pumpkin Pie isn’t actually used in this DSP, I think it is actually Tangelo Twist but I still think it works because of the earthy autumn/fall tones.

I think this last card is my favourite as it is layered so nicely and that bit of Daffodil Delight looks lovely against the Rich Razzleberry, not to mention that adorable little fox just popping of the card! I think I could of just done a whole series like this one and just changed the colours but kept the layering style the same and it still would of been a nice series of cards.

What’s your favourite product from this year’s Autumn/Winter catalogue? Leave me a comment below and let me know.

Pootler’s Blog Hop

Pootlers Blog Hop-001

Hi and welcome to a Pootler’s Blog Hop. On this blog hope we will be showcasing some of the gorgeous new products from the new annual catalog that launched on 2nd of June. When you’re done perusing my site click on the button at the bottom of the post to head to the next post in the hop.

One of my favorite products out of the new catalog has been the I Think You’re Great stamp set and to show how fab it is I have created a little mini card collection to display its versatility. The stamp set consist of 5 stamps; three uniquely shaped sentiment stamps and 2 patterned stamps and what’s interesting about this stamp set is that it was designed with the kissing technique in mind. What that means is you take your sentiment ink it up and then press it to one of the patterned stamps to create a unique effect when you stamp your sentiment. This technique has been around for a long time so it’s nice to see new unique stamps being inspired by it.

To show off this wonderful stamp set I have created four 4×4 cards. I chose this size as it was perfect size to get out of a 12×12 piece of whisper white card stock. I could of gone for 3×3 but I thought it may have been too small for what I wanted to show.

So for the first card I started off simple and stamped one of the patterned stamps inked in Delightful Dijion straight onto the whisper white card stock. I then layered two strips of Tip Top Taupe envelope paper over the stamped image, I wanted to show of the different patterns on each side. For the sentiment I inked it in Cucumber Crush and just fussy cut it out and mounted on top of the strips of envelope paper using a dimensional.

Another simple card for you again. This time I have used a piece of Tip Top Taupe card stock and stamped that other patterned stamp in the center using Tip Top Taupe ink. I then wrapped some white baker’s twine round the middle of the card stock then mounded this to the white base using dimensional. To finish the card off I added a Hi cloud stamped in Mint Macaron.

For this next card I used so Cucumber Crush card stock and a piece of Cherry On Top DSP then stamped the I think You’re Great stamp in Watermelon Wonder and applied the kissing technique to this stamp using one of the patterned stamps. I was trying to go for a unique edge effect with the Cherry On Top DSP but I think I covered it up to much with the sentiment.

This final card is one of my favorites. I have layered a piece of the stripy Tip Top Taupe Envelope paper on top of some Watermelon Wonder card stock and stuck this to the base card. I then used some white baker’s twine to offset the sentiment that was stamped in Watermelon Wonder, I also used the kissing technique on this stamp too. After this point I still felt the card was missing something so I added a few flowers punched from the left over Watermelon Wonder card stock and added some rhinestones to their centers.

This stamp set I just one of the fabulous new stamps available in the new annual catalog and you can bet I will find ways of combining it with other stamps and projects so be sure to come back some time. Let me know in the comments which card design was your favorite.

Thanks for stopping by, come back again soon and don’t forget to check out the next blog post in the hop.

Freshly Made Spanner

Hi and welcome to this weeks Freshly Made Sketches blog post. This week is special as it falls on Father’s Day here in the Uk so Happy Fathers Day to Every Dad in the world.

As it is father’s Day I went and made a Father’s Day card for the occasion, based on this sketch below.

I really like the simplicity of this card layout and as simplistic cards are my favourite I really enjoyed this weeks challenge.

As you can see from the pic I started with a white card base and added a layer of Night Of Navy. I really like this colour and definitely don’t use it enough. Next  I took a piece of Old Olive and applied Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to it then mounted it on top of the Night Of Navy using dimensionals. For the sentiment I used one from the Guy Greetings stamp set and stamped it in Night Of Navy ink and popped this up with dimensionals. The spanner image is also from Guy Greetings and this too was stamped in wait for it Night of Navy (think I’m going for a record of how many times I can say Night Of Navy in one post), I then stuck some Whisper White baker’s twine to the back of it and placed it over the top of a small piece of Night Of Navy and stuck this to the card front and that it nice and simple.

Thanks for stopping by have a fab Sunday.

Pootler’s Blog Hop

Pootlers Blog Hop-001

To day is a very special post as its part of a blog hop between members of the Pootler’s, and the theme of this blog hop is anything from the Spring/Summer catalogue or Sale-a-Bration brochure.

As I covered some of my favourite products from the spring/summer catalogue in my last products of the month post I decided to focus on sale-a-bration for this month.

So for my project I decided to create a special welcome pack decorated using only products available during Sale-a-Bration for anyone who hosts a party with me between now and the 31st of March.

Best Day Ever

Everything in this picture is available from stampin up (except the coins and the notebook).

SAMSUNG CSC

So to start I took a Petite Cafe Gift Bag (they come in packs of 10 and can be found on page 35 of the Spring/Summer catalogue) and stamped it with the little spotty stamp from the Best Day Ever stamp set using Chocolate Chip ink. The sentiment and flower are also from the Best Day Ever stamp set and stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Coastal Cabana ink.

The flower was cut by hand and I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch on the sentiment and added a little of Calypso Coral ribbon to the top. The ribbon is part of the Best Year Ever Accessory pack and comes with Crushed Curry, Coastal Cabana ribbon and matching buttons.

Notebook

Stampin Up don’t do A7 notebooks so I bought them from amazon hereThe outside of the notebook was really boring so I spruced it up using Crushed Curry cardstock for the base measuring 3″ wide by 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/8 and 4 1/4 for the depth of the notebook (for best results use Fast Fuse for sticking I ran out while making 10 of these and snail wasn’t strong enough to stick the card base to the notebook).

The front of the notebook uses a piece of Best Year Ever DSP (pack of 12 double sided sheets available as free gift during Sale-a-Bration) cut to 2 3/4″ by 3 7/8″. The sentiment is stamped using Coastal Caban ink and is from the Simply Wonderful stamp set another free Sale-a-Bration stamp set and is finished of with a rhinestone.

This lovely little bag of goodies is actually made from Real Red Goodie Gear Simply Created Kit which is currently on the clearance rack but you can buy these little cellophane bags at different sizes from Stampin Up. So to make it I just took one of the empty bags put in some coins and tied it with the Bermuda Bay Bakers Twine it comes with. The tag is already precut as part of the kit so I just stuck a scrap of Best year ever DSP on it. The sentiment is from the Simply Wonderful stamp set stamped in Coastal Cabana, the little banner is also pre cut shape from the kit.

We’ve got some Blog Candy up for grabs – to be in with a chance of winning a bundle of goodies, including the Best Day Ever stamp set, the Best Year ever paper set and the co-ordinating ribbons and buttons, all you have to do is work your way through the hop before midday on Sunday and leave a comment on every blog.  The winner will be chosen at random and announced in the Pootles Craft Forum and here on Tuesday, 3d March
