Hi and welcome to a Pootler’s Blog Hop. On this blog hope we will be showcasing some of the gorgeous new products from the new annual catalog that launched on 2nd of June. When you’re done perusing my site click on the button at the bottom of the post to head to the next post in the hop.
One of my favorite products out of the new catalog has been the I Think You’re Great stamp set and to show how fab it is I have created a little mini card collection to display its versatility. The stamp set consist of 5 stamps; three uniquely shaped sentiment stamps and 2 patterned stamps and what’s interesting about this stamp set is that it was designed with the kissing technique in mind. What that means is you take your sentiment ink it up and then press it to one of the patterned stamps to create a unique effect when you stamp your sentiment. This technique has been around for a long time so it’s nice to see new unique stamps being inspired by it.
To show off this wonderful stamp set I have created four 4×4 cards. I chose this size as it was perfect size to get out of a 12×12 piece of whisper white card stock. I could of gone for 3×3 but I thought it may have been too small for what I wanted to show.
So for the first card I started off simple and stamped one of the patterned stamps inked in Delightful Dijion straight onto the whisper white card stock. I then layered two strips of Tip Top Taupe envelope paper over the stamped image, I wanted to show of the different patterns on each side. For the sentiment I inked it in Cucumber Crush and just fussy cut it out and mounted on top of the strips of envelope paper using a dimensional.
Another simple card for you again. This time I have used a piece of Tip Top Taupe card stock and stamped that other patterned stamp in the center using Tip Top Taupe ink. I then wrapped some white baker’s twine round the middle of the card stock then mounded this to the white base using dimensional. To finish the card off I added a Hi cloud stamped in Mint Macaron.
For this next card I used so Cucumber Crush card stock and a piece of Cherry On Top DSP then stamped the I think You’re Great stamp in Watermelon Wonder and applied the kissing technique to this stamp using one of the patterned stamps. I was trying to go for a unique edge effect with the Cherry On Top DSP but I think I covered it up to much with the sentiment.
This final card is one of my favorites. I have layered a piece of the stripy Tip Top Taupe Envelope paper on top of some Watermelon Wonder card stock and stuck this to the base card. I then used some white baker’s twine to offset the sentiment that was stamped in Watermelon Wonder, I also used the kissing technique on this stamp too. After this point I still felt the card was missing something so I added a few flowers punched from the left over Watermelon Wonder card stock and added some rhinestones to their centers.
This stamp set I just one of the fabulous new stamps available in the new annual catalog and you can bet I will find ways of combining it with other stamps and projects so be sure to come back some time. Let me know in the comments which card design was your favorite.
Thanks for stopping by, come back again soon and don’t forget to check out the next blog post in the hop.
Wooo Its Friday and lucky me I get a trip to the dentist!
I love chocolate and sweets maybe a little too much so I have to take really good care of my teeth if anything I am a little paranoid about them falling out but my trips to the dentist usually don’t result in anything bad. I have had a lot of problems with my wisdom teeth in the past though so I make sure to go for regular check ups.
Speaking of sweets I have a fantastic 3D project for you this week using the doughnut paper from the Cherry on Top DSP and the Stars framelits.
Isn’t it gorgeous? Its a star box meaning the top comes off and you can put sweeties in and give it as a gift.
I am actually super impressed with my self this week. I normally find 3D projects difficult but I found this really easy to follow video on YouTube by a lovely Australasian demonstrator, which you can find it here.
To start with I used the largest star framelit to cut 2 large stars from the Cherry on Top DSP these form the base for the box lid and bottom. Next I cut 4 strips of Bermuda Bay card stock measuring 4cm by 21cm. Each of these was then scored at 4cm intervals and 1cm on the length. The woman in the video had a great technique for notching the tabs. Not sure it would work on other projects but it differently helped make this one quicker. Next I glue the tabs and glue two of the strips together to form a circle then put some glue on the reverse side of my star all along the edge and then stuck each tab to a corresponding edge.
Now this is the ingenious bit about this project (or at least I thought it was haha) glue the two remaining strips together and this time put glue on each of the tabs then position this in side of the first star with the tabs facing up then stick your other star onto those tabs, leave it to dry if your using tombo and then wallah its a star box with a lid!
Now for decoration I used a strip of card cut of and cherry on top dsp which I curled with my bone folder and positioned at an angle on top of each other I then cut a few pieces of silver ribbon and stuck it to the back of this center piece before sticking it to the box. For the cloud I used a stamp from I think Your Great stamp set and stuck this on with a dimensionals.
Not sure how I am going to top this one next week but thanks for stopping by, come back again soon.
For this weeks project I decided to have a go at making those cute tote bags everyone has been making but because I am so frugal with my supplies I wanted to get the most out of my paper so I made some mini tote bags with the help of the lovely Bibi Cameron and her wonderful video.
I love her video the process is so simple and easy to understand and it only uses one sheet of DSP for each bag, Embellishments require more of course but to make the initial shape you will just need a sheet of DSP that is 6 x 6 which is fantastic as that is the exact size of the new paper stacks. You can also make four from one 12 x 12 DSp which is great if you want to make lots for a party favors.
For me I made these lovely three below.
One of them is an impostor!
Yes I know very naughty of me to use a DSP that is no longer available but I had some left over and it was my test one and it turned out so well I posted it with the others. The other two are made from the new Cherry on Top DSP. If you have seen my Tuesday post then you know how much I love this paper stack and why it was the perfect choice for this project. One thing I will suggest is use a strong glue like Fast Fuse or Tombo as I used Snail at the time and they kept popping open.
If you have any suggestions for my next 3D project let me know in the comments below.
Today is the official launch day of the new catalog woooo!
There are so many great products in the new catalog and I want them all, I only wish I had a bank account to accommodate this haha. One of my favorite products has to be the paper stack Cherry on Top it has such cute designs that works well on any project one of which is the card I am showcasing today.
The card in question is actually a case of one on page 7 of the new catty that showcases a new stamp set Sprinkles on Top. I love this stamp set its cute and simple and I love the hand written happy birthday stamp.
The background paper is one of the ones from Cherry on Top and so are the donuts. See the original card uses the donut stamp from the Sprinkles on Top stamp set but I don’t have it instead I punched out 4 donuts from another sheet of Cherry on Top DSP. Such great paper I love it! The two strips in the middle are Cherry on Top washi tape matching paper and washi tape and coordinating coloured cardstock does it get any better?
The sentiment is two stamps from Crazy about you stamp set and yes thankfully that one and the Hello You thinlits are staying and the bundle too. The sentiment is also stamped in Cucumber Crush one of our new in colours, its actually a lot brighter than it looks in the picture and coordinates perfectly with the Cherry on Top paper, something I love about Stampin Up product coordination.
I am going to have so much fun with all these new products and I hope you do too.
If you haven’t seen it already here is this weeks sketch.
And here is mine.
I just love bright cards and this week my card is showcasing some of the new products that will be available in the new catalog that comes out on the 2nd of June.
So the base is Tip Top Taupe cardstock which is one of the new in colors and the DSP I have used is called Cherry On Top and features some of the new in colours in the paper as well as some from other colour collections but it’s absolutely wonderful and is one of my favourites from the new catalog.
The butterflies are made using the butterfly basics framelits but the paper I used for the bigger butterfly is also from a new product which is envelope paper and comes in all of the new in colours and the little butterfly is cut from Watermelon Wonder cardstock.
As for the sentiment it is stamped in Cucumber Crush (new in colour) and it is from this years RMHC stamp set and it is absolutely adorable and is called Sprinkles Of Life and you can make cupcakes and ice creams and clouds and baskets of flowers and trees it such a versatile stamp set and I think it will be hugely popular when everyone sees it.
